At Corner Canyon Health Centers, our priority is our client’s needs. We offer care that helps every client to feel comfortable, safe, and supported in order to heal no matter what challenges they are facing. While this is important for all individuals, it can be especially valuable for our LGBTQAI+ clientele, and the therapy methods we use are designed to work with the presenting concerns of all our clients. With individualized care, every client’s treatment is designed to help them heal and build skills to move forward in their lives successfully. Corner Canyon’s personnel include LGBTQAI+ members in all levels of the organization, we train our personnel to be respectful of preferred pronouns, and allow clients to choose either gender floor to room on.
Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, and intersex (LGBTQAI+) community may face additional challenges. They might face a greater risk of harassment and violence, social shaming, and discrimination for sexual preferences or gender identity. These discriminatory stressors lead to sexual minorities being at greater risk for various behavioral health issues.
For instance, data from a 2020 study found approximately 6.7% of sexual minority adults misused opioids in the past year, compared to 3.6% of the overall adult population. The same study also suggests approximately 21.8% of sexual minority adults had an alcohol use disorder (AUD) in the past year compared to 11.0% in the overall population.
Every individual, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, faces their own challenges with mental health. However, the additional stress that can come with the legal and social ramifications of sexual orientation and gender identity, potential victimization, and lack of adequate care all can play a role in an LGBTQAI+ individual’s challenges with mental health
As a whole, individuals in the LGBTQAI+ community may face more challenges with mental health than their heterosexual and cisgender peers. This disproportionate amount of mental health difficulties makes it vital for mental health programs to provide safety and support that improve healing.
Mental health treatment programs can be highly beneficial for members of the LGBTQIA+ population who are struggling with mental health and other co-occurring issues. Corner Canyon offers a safe and supportive environment that is designed to address the unique needs and challenges of this community.
By providing a safe and supportive environment that is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of this community, Corner Canyon can help clients achieve lasting recovery and build a fulfilling and meaningful life.
We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
We are a private pay program, and are out of network with most insurance companies, however we are in network with Tricare. We do have success securing single case agreements with many companies, however, the rate of payment on those varies with the insurance company and we cannot guarantee what they might pay. We will run a Verification of Benefits (VOB) when we receive your insurance information so you have a general idea of what your insurance policy may reimburse, however, that is an estimate based on what all people insured by your company have received from your insurance, not a guarantee of what they will pay in your case.
On average, Corner Canyon’s clients receive a portion of insurance reimbursement 85-90% of the time, but the amount varies from minimal repayment to full reimbursement. We have a team of insurance advocates who are invested in helping families secure as much reimbursement as possible.
