It is our mission to gain a deep understanding of the emotional, biological, cognitive, and social factors influencing our clients. We provide intensive, effective interventions with the goal of restoring our clients to full health and wellness in a comfortable, beautiful home environment.
Our goal is to inspire continual improvement in the mental health and addiction treatment field by constantly improving innovative, comprehensive, compassionate care.
Corner Canyon Health Center is for adults, 18+.
At Corner Canyon, we are dedicated to understanding the complex interplay of biological and emotional factors in mental health. This deep understanding allows us to craft personalized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each adult client we serve. Our team of highly experienced professionals works collaboratively to design individualized treatment plans that prioritize emotional well-being while also incorporating sophisticated psychiatric and medical care.
At Corner Canyon, we offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. We use ketamine in-house in conjunction with individual therapy sessions to increase the plasticity of the brain and broaden client’s ability to explore emotions and memories, including traumatic ones, and see solutions to the unhealthy beliefs and thoughts that can drive negative behavior. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is available to clients who have been clinically recommended for it.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) are two types of therapy that are used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Both therapies involve the use of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to facilitate the processing of traumatic memories and emotions.
During EMDR therapy, the therapist guides the individual through a series of eye movements while they recall a traumatic event or disturbing memory. The eye movements are thought to activate the brain’s natural processing mechanisms, which helps to integrate and reprocess the traumatic memory in a more adaptive way. This can lead to a reduction in the emotional intensity and distress associated with the traumatic memory.
Similarly, ART involves the use of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help individuals process traumatic memories and emotions. ART also incorporates techniques from other forms of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and exposure therapy, to help individuals develop coping skills and reduce the impact of negative thoughts and emotions.
Corner Canyon was designed from the beginning to be a comfortable environment for LGBTQIA+ clients to work on mental health and addiction concerns, which can be higher in this community because of discrimination and past trauma. Clients can choose their rooms on either floor, depending on how they identify, and staff are respectful about chosen pronouns and names. Corner Canyon has gay personnel at all levels of the company and we have always focused on creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
Residential treatment is very intensive, and not all clients who complete this level of care are ready to return to their previous lives, or build new healthy ones without support and continued skill building. Corner Canyon has developed additional optional levels of care to assist clients in maintaining their gains, stabilizing in a less structured environment, and developing independent living skills. They continue to see our medical and psychiatric personnel, as well as Corner Canyon therapists, and the focus is on determining their individual needs and creating a plan to help them reach stable independent living.
